1.
Delivery of cargoes by water transport The seaport Vitino is connected by water ways with important suppliers of
petroleum. The most favourable
suppliers to establish a transport circuit are: "Yaroslavnefteorgsintez" - Yaroslavl "NORSI" -
of Nizhni Novgorod " Nizhnekamsk Oil-Processing Factory " - Nizhnekamsk "Permnefteorgsintez" -
Perm "Bashneftehimzavody" -
Ufa " Samarskiy Uzel NPZ" (Samara Facility of an Oil-Refinery) - Samara, Syzran’. The delivery of petroleum from these factories can be effected by river/sea-going
bulktankers such as ore-oil carriers. When vessels of such a class are used, the
return loading with dry cargoes in port Kandalaksha is feasible. Since 1997, in co-operation with the company "Infotek-Baltika"
(St.-Petersburg), a program has been implemented to reduce the transport charges
paid by the joint-stock company "Severstal’" for transportation of
ore-oil concentrate by ore-oil carriers, with transhipment in the port of
Kandalaksha. 2.
Delivery of cargoes by rail The delivery of cargoes to the Port Vitino is also feasible by railway
tanks both from the factories listed above and from some others. The special
attention is paid to the transhipment of crude petroleum extracted in
Timano-Pechorskaja oil and gas province (Uhta), as Vitino is the only port in
the White Sea region which specializes in crude petroleum transshipment. The seaport Vitino has prospects
concerning creation of an oil refining complex. The prospects will come to light
with implementation of projects on exploration of the Barents Sea shelf and
known deposits of Timano-Pechorskaja oil and gas province. Please, see the
chart
chart for more details on the circuit of cargo carriage and transportation.
